CLARK, Ernest

Hampshire. 13 September 1918

Ernest Clark was born in Quarry Bank and attended Cradley C of E School. He enlisted in the Hampshire Regiment late in the war and was posted to the 2/4th Battalion. They returned from Palestine in May 1918 and served on the Western Front during the Advance to Victory from July to November 1918. They took the Allied line up to the Hindenburg Line but in the battle of Havrincourt that followed Private Ernest Clark was killed in action on the 13th September 1918. He is commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois, Cradley, Halesowen and Cradley school Memorials.
