The only name with any similarity to George Corfield is that of Geoffrey Howard Corfield of Wolverhampton. He was killed in action at the age of 19 on the 1st July 1916 at Gommecourt, the first day of the Battle of the Somme, while serving in the 1/6th Battalion of the South Staffordshire Regiment. George Corfield is commemorated on the Cradley, Halesowen, Halesowen C of E school and Walter Somers and Co. Memorials.
