GOULD, Philip

Worcestershire. 20 February 1918

Philip Gould lived with his wife Phoebe at Brook Street, Stourbridge, and enlisted in the Worcesters in November 1914. He joined the 3rd Battalion but was seriously wounded in March 1915 in the fighting around Spanbroek Mill at the western end of the Messines Ridge. Private Gould was discharged on 6th August 1915 and then obtained work at the GPO as a postman. He died suddenly on 20th February 1918. His funeral was at Stourbridge Cemetery where he is buried in plot D 763. The funeral was conducted by the Vicar of St. Thomas's and his name is commemorated on the Stourbridge and St. Thomas's church Memorials.
