HARRIS, Ernest

Royal Warwickshire. 01 October 1917

Ernest Harris attended Halesowen C of E school and by 1914 was married to Clara Harris of 97 Bloomfield Street, Halesowen. He volunteered for the Warwicks Territorials and joined the 1/5th Battalion. By August 1917 they were engaged in the Third Battle of Ypres and were in the front line at the Steenbeek. Casualties were taken and this might have been the occasion when Private Ernest Harris was wounded. He died of wounds on the 1st October at a military Hospital. He was 43 years of age and is buried at Dozinghem Cemetery (VII H 3) and commemorated on the Halesowen and Halesowen C of E school Memorials.
