MOORE, John

Royal Artillery. 26 July 1916

John Moore was the son of James and Mercy Moore of 173 Stourbridge Road, Halesowen. He enlisted in the Royal Garrison Artillery and was sent to the 32nd Trench Mortar Battery. It is possible that he fought in the early stages of the Battle of the Somme. He was severely wounded at some point and was sent to No. 1 Base Hospital at Etretat near Le Havre where he died on the 26th July 1916. He was 22 years of age and is buried in Etretat Churchyard (II C 21) and commemorated on the Halesowen Memorial.
