PARSONS, Isaac

Royal Engineers. 07 July 1916

Isaac Parsons came from Gorsty Hill, Halesowen, and enlisted in the Royal Engineers. He was sent out to Mesopotamia in a draft of reinforcements and was seemingly ordered into the front line immediately. There was little action after the fall of Kut in April but the conditions of the battlefield and the climate of the country must have been very stressful. There was occasional sniping and this might have contributed to his death on the 7th July. He is buried at Amara Cemetery (XI D 8) and commemorated on the Halesowen Memorial.
