Rifle Brigade. 15 March 1915

Lesley Willetts was born in Hasbury and later lived in Old Hill. He was a pre-war regular soldier and served in the 4th Battalion of the Rifle Brigade. They returned from India and were sent to the Western Front in December 1914 and to trenches at St. Eloi. As Spring approached, so did the campaigning season. In March the contest was on a small scale but casualties were frequent. On the 15th March Rifleman Leslie Willetts was killed in action and is commemorated on the Menin Gate and Halesowen Memorials.
