FACER, Frederick Augustus

Royal Artillery.

Frederick Facer was the son of Laura Facer of Belle Vue, Wordsley, and the late Jacob Facer. He was an early volunteer and enlisted in the artillery, joining 126 Brigade of the Royal Field Artillery as a driver. The Brigade was active on the Western Front, probably in Artois, during 1915. However, he was seriously wounded at some point and was taken to a military hospital at St. Omer where he died on the 9th August 1915. Driver Frederick Facer was 19 years of age and is buried in Longuenesse (Souvenir) Cemetery (II A 15) and commemorated on the Wordsley Memorial.
