HUNTER, Thomas Charles

Labour Corps. 31 October 1918

Thomas Hunter was born in Halesowen and enlisted originally in the Yorkshire Regiment and served in the 8th Battalion but was later transferred to the Labour Corps. The Yorkshires had a long service in Artois, the Somme and Flanders but Thomas Hunter could only have been on active service in 1918. Men with moderate health problems were often transferred to the Labour Corps but Private Thomas Hunter seems to have died in service while in this country. He died on the 31st October 1918 and is buried in Halesowen Cemetery (F 54). He was 19 years of age and is commemorated on the Halesowen Memorial.
