LAW, Captain

Royal Warwickshire. 12 October 1917

Captain Law was the son of Benjamin and Annie Law of 1 New Street, Halesowen. He attended Halesowen C of E school and was a member of the Methodists in Halesowen. He volunteered for the Warwicks and was sent to the 1st Battalion. They were closely engaged in the 1916 Battle of the Somme and then with the first battle of Arras in April 1917. By October 1917 they were in Flanders and brought to the front line for the Battle of Poelcappelle which started on the 9th. It was a miserable few days in pouring rain and copious mud. Private Captain Law was killed in action on the 12th October. He was 22 years of age and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot, Halesowen, Halesowen United Methodist church and Halesowen C of E school Memorials.
