Charles Tristram was from Cradley and enlisted in the Worcesters. He went to the 3rd Battalion which was at Messines in the early part of 1916 and was then ordered to the Somme. They were in action after four days attacking the very difficult Leipzig Salient near the village of Thiepval. On the 16th July they attacked at Ovillers in an attempt to clear the village and after a month out of the line they returned to the Leipzig Salient for an attack on Thiepval. Private Charles Tristram was seriously wounded and taken to a Casualty Clearing Station where he died. He is buried in Forceville Cemetery (II E 11) and is commemorated on the Cradley and Halesowen Memorials.
