George Tromans came from Cradley and enlisted in the Worcesters. He was sent to the 10th Battalion who endured a winter on the Somme in 1916-17 before being sent to the Messines Ridge south of Ypres. In early July they attacked the German line near Oostaverne and again on the 23rd July another attack was made. The cost of this three day action was 11 men killed. Among them was Private George Tromans who was killed in action on the 23rd July. He is buried at Locre Hospice Cemetery, Kemmel (II A 20), and is commemorated on the Cradley and Halesowen Memorials.
