Joseph Wilfred Tromans was born at Worcester and his link with Cradley is unknown. He enlisted in the Royal Field Artillery and served in the 241st Brigade. This unit was in the Ypres sector in late July 1917 in preparation for the Third Battle of Ypres. Possibly in counter-battery shelling he was wounded. He was sent to a Casualty Clearing Station at Poperingue where he died on the 23rd July. Corporal Wilfred Tromans was buried in Mendingem Military Cemetery (II F 20) and is commemorated on the Cradley Memorial.
