Gornal

The Memorial Hall was built on the site of the former Sunday School of St. James.church. It became the Village Hall for the parish and after the Great War a War Memorial was established in an exterior lobby.

Four panels carry 57 names and at the centre is a cross is mounted on a block of stone with the following dedication:

TO THE GLORY OF GOD
AND IN LOVING MEMORY OF
THE MEN OF LOWER GORNAL
WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES
FOR THEIR COUNTRY
IN THE GREAT WAR
1914-1918
