CHAPMAN, John Willam

Labour Corps. 18 August 1917

William. Chapman was born and lived in Blackheath and enlisted in the Lincolnshire Regiment. He seems to have been attached to the 9th and later the 48th Labour Company of the Labour Corps. They were engaged in the Third Battle of Ypres and Private John Chapman was seriously wounded and taken to a Casualty Clearing Station at Outtersteene neat Bailleul where he died on the 18th August 1917. He is buried in Outtersteene Communal Cemetery (1 A 22) and is commemorated on the Halesowen Memorial.
