STOKES, Arthur A

Corps of Military Police. 29 November 1917

Arthur Stokes was born in Powick, Worcs. and later moved to Halesowen where he lived with his wife at Dudley Road, Halesowen. He served with the Military Police and in 1917 was stationed in the Ypres Salient. He was seriously injured at some point and taken to a Casualty Clearing Station at Brandhoek, near Vlamertingue. Lance Corporal (Acting) Arthur Stokes died of wounds on the 29th November 1915 and is buried in Brandhoek New Military Cemetery No. 3 (II E 18). He was 28 years of age and is commemorated on the Halesowen Memorial.
