H. Bashford is commemorated on the Lye and Wollescote and Lye church Memorials and almost certainly represents Charles Bashford who is commemorated with Thomas Bashford on the Wollescote school Memorial. The County Express recorded his death in its issue of the 18th May 1918. Charles Bashford was born in Lye, and was the oldest son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Bashford of Crabbe Street, Wollescote. He attended Wollescote school and was a member of the Primitive Methodist chapel. He was employed as a shipping tackle striker at Messrs Jones and Lloyds at Lye. He volunteered on the 22nd September 1914 for the Worcester Territorials and joined the 2/7th Battalion which went to the Western Front in May 1916. He was transferred to another regiment according to the County Express and probably died in May 1918.
