CHANNING(S), William H

Norfolk. 17 November 1918

William Channings was married to Susannah and lived at 21 Vicarage Prospect, Dudley. He enlisted late in the war and was sent to the 1/5th Battalion of the Norfolk Regiment. They had fought in the Gallipoli campaign in 1915, landing at Suvla Bay, and then in Egypt and Palestine. Private William Chnnings had been either wounded or affected by sickness and had been evacuated to England. He died onthe 17th November 1918. He was 44 years of age and is buried in Dudley Borough Cemetery (A 333) and commemorated on the Dudley and St. James church, Dudley, Memorials.
