Bert Faulkner was born in Blackheath and by 1916 was living at 4 Cross Street, Blackheath, with his wife, Elizabeth. He enlisted in the Royal Field Artillery and was later posted to the 19th Company Royal Garrison Artillery. It is likely that he was seriously wounded and returned to England for recuperation. However, he died in this country and is buried in the churchyard of St. Paul's, Blackheath. He was 27 years of age and is commemorated on the Blackheath and Halesowen Memorials.
