Richard Hunt lived at 21 Church Street, Stourbridge, and was married to Florence. He enlisted in the Royal Berkshire Regiment and was posted to the 13th (Labour) Battalion. This unit went to France in September 1916 but the troops were transferred in April 1917 to the Labour Corps. Richard Hunt would probably have served at least eighteen months in or near the front line, but at some point he became seriously ill and was brought back to England where he died. Private Richard Hunt is buried in Stourbridge Cemetery (D 730). He was 38 years of age and is commemorated on the Stourbridge and St. Thomas's church Memorials.
