Harold James was a member of the Roman Catholic Church in Stourbridge. He enlisted in the Royal Fusiliers and on the church memorial is recorded as being in the 28th Battalion. This was a training unit and it is possible that, although he died on active service, he had not proceeded overseas. He died on the 18th July 1918 either from sickness or accident and his body was brought back to Stourbridge. Private Harold James was buried in the Stourbridge Roman Catholic cemetery and he is commemorated on the Stourbridge and Catholic church Memorials.
Commemorated at:
13 New Road, Stourbridge, West Midlands, DY8 1PQ
