JONES, Percy

Royal Warwickshire. 31 October 1919

Percy Jones was the son of Anne Brettle of 44 Pargeter Street, Wollescote. He served in the Warwickshire Territorials and at the end of the war was stationed at home in the 5th Battalion. During 1918 the 1/5th had seen action in Italy and the 2/5th on the Somme. The 3/5th was the Home battalion. It is likely that he was in action overseas and survived the campaigns to return home, but with serious wounds. He died on the 31st October 1919 and is buried in Lye and Wollescote cemetery (C R 27). He was 21 years of age and is commemorated on the Lye and Wollescote and Lye church Memorials.
