Private Edward Lowe was the son of Mr and Mrs Lowe of King William Street, Amblecote, He was a choir boy and server at Holy Trinity church and a patrol leader in the Baden Powell scouts. He worked as a glasscutter at Messrs Thomas Webb’s glass-works. He enlisted in the London Regiment in July 1917 and served in the London Scottish and then the Gordon Highlanders. He was discharged with invalidity benefit from the army in December 1918 but suffered severely from the effects of gas poisoning and his death was a direct consequence. He died on the 4th November 1921 and is buried in Amblecote church-yard and commemorated on the Amblecote and Amblecote church Memorials.
