Charles Pagett was born in 1894 and was the son of Charles and Emily Pagett. He attended Wollaston C of E School and by the time of the Great War they lived at 55 King Street, Wollaston. He enlisted in the Worcesters in 1916 and joined the 4th Battalion. After a costly involvement on the Somme in that year they were closely involved in the Third Battle of Ypres in 1917. William Dancox won the Victoria Cross on this day, but Private Charles Pagett was killed in action. He was 22 years of age and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot, Stourbridge and Wollaston church Memorials.
