James Pearson lived at 93 Brook Street, Wollescote, and was married to Maria. He volunteered for the Worcesters and joined the 2nd Battalion. They spent 1915 in Artois and fought in the difficult battles of Festubert in May and Loos in September, suffering heavy casualties in both. In March 1916 they were still in the same sector and in the trenches at Givenchy. There were no attacks but shelling was continual. Four men were killed in March and one was Private James Pearson who died on the 16th March. He was 33 years of age and is buried in Cambrin Cemetery Extension (G 47) and commemorated on the Lye and Wollescote and Lye church Memorials.
