Edward Smith was the son of Edward and Alice Smith of 4 Vale Street, Amblecote, but seems to lived to have lived in Wollaston at some time. He worked as a railway clerk and enlisted in December 1915. He joined the Royal Garrison Artillery and served in the 256th Siege Battery. Buried in Buffs Road Cemetery (E 2) and commemorated on the Amblecote Memorial and on his parents’ grave in Amblecote churchyard.
