TAYLOR, Edward Albert

Royal Artillery. 09 November 1918

Edward Taylor was born in Worcester and was married to Annie Taylor, later of 120 Douglas Road, Handsworth. He enlisted in Birmingham in the artillery and was sent to the 332nd Battery of the Royal Field Artillery. They were attached to the Allied forces in Macedonia where a long struggle started in 1915. The battles north of Salonika against the Bulgarians were just as fierce as those on the Western Front but by October 1918 Bulgaria had been defeated and the Allied troops retired to Greece. It was here that Gunner Edward Taylor died, probably from disease. He was 36 years of age and is buried in Kirechkoi-Hortakoi Cemetery (417) and commemorated on the Lye and Wollescote and Lye church Memorials.
