FLETCHER, Isaac Edward

Isaac Fletcher was the son of Adam Fletcher of 35 West End, Brierley Hill and was employed at the Round Oak Works. He enlisted in October 1916 in the London Regiment and went to the 1/14th (London Scottish) Battalion in the 56th Division. He joined them on the Western Front in March and took part in the Battle of Arras in April 1917. They moved to the Ypres sector for the battle of Langemarck but returned to the Hindenburg Line in September. Private Isaac Fletcher was killed by a shell fragment and is buried in Lagnicourt Hedge Cemetery (I A 15). He was 19 years of age and is commemorated on the Brierley Hill and Brierley Hill church Memorials.
