Percival Lowe was the son of Jeremiah Lowe of Brettell Lane and lived with his wife, Elsie, and his family in King William Street, Amblecote. He enlisted in February 1917 and joined the 7/8th battalion of the King’s Own Scottish Borderers. He went into the front line when the Advance to Victory in 1918 was under way. German resistance was still strong and as the British forces advanced towards the Hindenburg Line there was much fighting. Private Percival Lowe was killed in action on the 17th September 1918. He was 33 years of age and is commemorated on the Loos and Amblecote Memorials. Memorial Notice, ‘Sadly missed by his mother and dad, sisters and brothers.’ September 1919 Do not ask us if we miss him None can ever fill his place We shall never forget his footsteps Or his happy smiling face.
