Dudley Pearson was the son of Mr and Mrs Dudley Pearson of 4 Coffee House Row, High Street, Brierley Hill, and was living at 27 Bromley Lane, Pensnett, when he volunteered for the Worcesters. In 1915 he joined the 4th Battalion, recently returned from Burma, and went with them to Gallipoli. The Battalion landed near Cape Helles on the 25th April and fought their way half way up the vital ridge of the peninsula. Four battles were fought for the village of Krithia but the ridge was not gained. At some point Private Dudley Pearson suffered from fever and was sent to the base Hospital at Alexandria where he died of dysentery. He was 21 years of age and is buried in the Chatby Memorial Cemetery (D 99) and commemorated on the Brierley Hill and Brierley Hill church Memorials. Two of his brothers, Charles and Harry, also died in the war.
