RICHARDSON, Edward J

Edward Richardson came from Brierley Hill and volunteered for the South Staffords. He was sent to the 1st Battalion and took part in the 1915 Spring battles in Artois at Aubers Ridge and Festubert. They then prepared for a broader attack in the same sector at Loos. The Staffords suffered heavy casualties when they attacked the canal and the brickworks at Auchy-les-Bassée and Private Edward Richardson was among those killed on the first day, the 25th September. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial and the Brierley Hill and Brierley Hill church Memorials.
